Is SVG a vector file ? many are asking about SVG files, and if it’s same as vector file. so what you should know about SVG file ?

Now the question is: Is SVG file a Vector file ?

First you should know that Vector files are images that are built by mathematical formulas that establish points on a grid. And SVG files or Scalable Vector Graphics, are an XML-based vector images format for two dimensional graphics with support for interactivity and animation.

The principle is the same, but the two formats have different extensions.

SVG files extension is *.SVG and can be read by many programs like: Design Space, Adobe Animate, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Visio, CorelDRAW, Corel PaintShop Pro, CADSoftTools ABViewer, Inkscape, GIMP, and more.

Vector files extension can be *.SVG, *.PDF, *.EPS, *.CDR, and *.AI, and can be read with: Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and more programs.
